Studio Update

With another school year complete, I have been replacing the time I usually spend teaching with time spent in the studio. I've been given the opportunity to share studio space for a few weeks with a friend and former art professor, be sure to check out her work at http://alexandrarobinsonart.com/home.html.

Here's a peek into what I've been making and the current state of my work space.

Janet's Flowers

This summer I spent a lot of time on the West Coast, specifically in my home state of Washington. One of my favorite places is Finnriver Farm in Chimacum, WA. While they grow food for the farmer's market, berries for picking, and apples for their fantastic local cider, there's one garden that's not for sale. Janet, a farmer at Finnriver, has an entire garden of flowers that she refuses to sell, claiming that she has to grow at least one thing for beauty and not for money. I had the honor of having dinner on the farm during my trip, and afterwards I picked some flowers from Janet's garden. It led to a new series of floral drawings, look out for a new blog post soon.
